A Sheldon man was killed in a two-vehicle accident 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on Route N, three miles north of Republic.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2014 Kenworth driven by Charles W. Medlin, 32, Republic, crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Buick LeSabre driven by Joseph L. Bailey, 43, Sheldon, head on. Both vehicles went off the roadway and struck a fence.
Medlin was pronounced dead at Cox South Hospital at 5:18 p.m.
The fatality was the 45th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
