One man was killed and another man injured in a two-vehicle collision 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on MO 66, two miles west of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Darrell L. Shoemaker, 32, Moundville, was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of MO 66 when it was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Robert D. McDaniel, 59, Independence, Kansas.
Jasper County Coroner Andy Nace pronounced Shoemaker dead at the scene.
McDaniel was treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 119th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
