Carthage man cited for DWI, leaving the scene after injury accident


A Carthage man was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 8 p.m. Sunday on Old 66, two miles northeast of Carthage.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Alexander Mendez Santiago, 20, Carthage, traveled off the right side of a highway, struck a fence and overturned.

Santiago, who was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to maintain a lane, was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Carthage.
