(From Webb City School District)Today at approximately 11:00 am Franklin Student Center went into a lockdown situation due to two unidentified individuals walking toward the school that were in possession of a suspicious box with images of an assault rifle.
The administration quickly contacted local law enforcement who immediately secured the building and made sure that all students and staff were safe.
The two individuals were detained by the Webb City Police Department for questioning.
After an initial investigation, it was determined that the box contained an airsoft rifle that was purchased earlier this morning.
We would like to recognize the swift response by the Webb City Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff's Department as well as our students and staff for implementing protocols to keep everyone safe.
