(From the Bates County Sheriff's Office)On 7/6/23 at approximately 1130 pm a Deputy made a traffic stop in Butler. A request for a K-9 unit was made. The stop lead to the recovery of multiple grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
On 7/7/23, the Bates County Prosecutor applied for and received an arrest warrant for Austin C Smith of Lamar Mo. Mr. Smith was formally from Butler and is currently on Probation and Parole for possession of dangerous drugs.
Mr. Smith was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
At the time of this press release Mr. Smith posted bond this afternoon.
