(From the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office)Just before 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to an area northwest of Columbus after a resident discovered a farm truck had been stolen. The owner
located the stolen truck and suspect nearby, after the suspect stopped to syphon fuel out of the stolen farm truck to put into a van, which had been previously stolen in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
When the owner of the stolen farm truck - and family members of the owner - confronted the suspect, he allegedly discharged rounds from a shotgun at one of them, then fled in one of the family members' white 2015 Chevy 4 door truck.
The suspect has been identified as 61-year-old Charles L. "Larry" Amos.
Anyone with information as to Amos' whereabouts should consider him armed and dangerous and contact local law enforcement authorities.
