(From the Newton County Sheriff's Office)Tonight, the Newton County Sheriff's Office held a badge-pinning ceremony to recognize the completion of training for new deputies. Those recognized were Deputy Trenton Cook, Deputy Hayden Potter, Deputy Amara Meier, and Deputy Jaymen Dewitt.
These deputies completed over 600 hours of training at a state-certified law enforcement academy, an additional two weeks of in-house instruction, and a 16-week hands-on field training program.
Chaplain Mark Taylor gave the opening prayer. Sheriff Matt Stewart provided words of encouragement to both the deputies and their loved ones.
Each deputy was given the ability to choose who pinned their badge, and Judge Kevin Selby swore them in as full-fledged deputy sheriffs.
Please join us in congratulating these deputies on their achievements!
