(From KGCS)“Blankets wrap you in warmth, quilts wrap you in love.” A quilter's quote that expresses the motivation behind the efforts and impact of the Joplin Area Town and Country Quilter’s Guild. The group will host a quilt show October 3 – 4 that raises funds for its community service. That effort is the focus of the next Newsmakers program.
Guild members Kathy Knapp, Dana Parker and Betty Fogarty share quilts and other crafts created by the organization that will be on display and part of charity raffles. Funds raised from the two-day competition event support supplies for the guild to create quilts that are then donated to local charities.
Karolyn Schrage of Life Choices Health Network and Abby Edwards with the Children’s Center explain how the donated quilts are a great community support for children in crisis and new mothers.
