MSSU Pitch Palooza expands to high school

(From KGCS)

Great ideas for products or services often need financial backing to become nationally known. It is the premise of television shows like Shark Tank and The Profit. Finding future entrepreneurs is also the goal of Pitch Palooza. The Missouri Southern State University Spring event and its expansion to include high school students is the focus of the next Newsmakers program.

Dr. Dan Cravens, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Plaster School of Business explains how the Pitch Palooza competition works and important elements of a good pitch. Keri Carroll, Chair of Fine Arts at Crowder College and Pitch Palooza partners, shares the important performance elements of selling judges on a product or service idea. Both give details on why the program is expanding to include high school students and ways they can begin preparing now for the April competition.

Newsmakers is airing nightly at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. beginning September 7 on KGCS-TV and will air at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, September 13 on KOAM-TV. It is also posted on the station’s YouTube channel: KGCS – Missouri Southern State University.

KGCS-TV programming can be seen on channel 21 and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Optimum Internet. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
