A Joplin man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 8 p.m. Tuesday on State Line Road two miles south of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Mazda Malta driven by Victor S. Ferguson, 46, Joplin, began skidding, ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and a tree, and overturned.
A passenger, Camron L. Welch, 26, Joplin, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m. by Newton County Deputy Coroner Deems.
The fatality was the 29th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
