Resurfacing work set for 1-49 in Barton County

I-49 Set for Resurfacing in Barton & Vernon Counties
Starting Week of May 25
 
Barton & Vernon Counties - Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on I-49 between Route 54 in Nevada and Route 160 in Lamar for a resurfacing project beginning the week of May 25, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will be replacing guardrails and resurfacing shoulders and driving lanes for a little more than 25 miles along the interstate.
Traffic Impacts
  • No work planned on project over the Memorial Day weekend (noon Friday, May 22, until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26)
  • One lane of I-49 will be closed in areas
  • One lane will be open to traffic at all times
  • Crews will work mostly daytime hours, five days a week, except during paving operations when crews will work five 24-hour days
  • Reduced speed limit in the work zone of 60 mph, down from the current 70 mph
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Project Information
  • Prime contractor: APAC-Missouri, Springfield
  • Total project cost: $1.2 million
  • Completion date: November 1, 2015. Although, the entire project is set for completion by the end of August.
