JPD arrests Neosho man in fireman's cap for setting fire

On April 28, 2015, at 6:44 am, the Joplin Police Department responded to the 800 block of Main in the east alley for a dumpster fire.

The dumpster is owned by Service Recycling, 1015 Illinois, Joplin. Officers contacted witnesses in the area that reported that Michael R. Banks, 57, Neosho, Mo., had confided to them that he had set the fire. Banks was said to be wearing a fireman ball cap, and fireman jacket.

Officers located Banks and he freely professed to having set the fire. Banks was arrested for burning without a permit.
