Sealing work scheduled on Route 43/Business 60 in Seneca, Mac County

(From MODOT)

Pavement Sealing Work Scheduled For
Route 43/Business 60 in Seneca Area And McDonald County Route O

Newton/McDonald Counties - Three state roads -- two in Newton County and one in McDonald County area -- are scheduled to be sealed with a mixture of rock and oil during the week of May 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
  • Route 43 will be sealed between I-44 south of Joplin and Route 60 south of Seneca between May 18 and May 20
  • Business 60 will be sealed between Route 43 in Seneca and the Missouri/Oklahoma state line on May 21
  • McDonald County Route O between Route 43 and the Missouri/Oklahoma state line north of Southwest City on May 21
During the work, drivers can expect one-lane traffic with flaggers and pilot vehicles directing drivers through the work zone.
Drivers are urged to reduce their speed when traveling over sections that have recently been sealed.
A chip-seal is planned for these roads as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and extend its life.
The project also includes sealing work on twelve other state routes in the southwest Missouri area that will be sealed at a later date.
The prime contractor on the project is Vance Brothers, Inc. of Kansas City, for a low bid amount of $1.9 million.
