Joplin Parks and Recreation is hosting a tree giveaway this Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. until noon or until all of the trees are gone. There are several types of shade trees (tulip poplars, white oaks, bald cypress to name a few) and small trees/shrubs (buttonbush, dogwoods, redbuds, etc.) to choose from during the giveaway. All are Missouri native trees that will do well in this area.
One tree is available to all Joplin addresses, and the recovery zone residents are able to get three trees. These trees were donated by Forest ReLeaf and the Missouri Department of Corrections. Residents can pick them up this Saturday at the Parks office at 3010 W 1st Street, located on the corner of 1st and Schifferdecker Avenues.
Call the Parks office at 417-624-6937 for more information.
