According to the Highway Patrol report, Emily A. Kemmerly, 29, Joplin, driving a 2011 Ford Focus, lost control and skidded off the roadway, then skidded sideways across the median and struck a 1995 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Casey L. Franckl, 29, Breckinridge, Minnesota.
Kemmerly was pronounced dead at Freeman Hospital by Dr. Baker at 3:02 p.m.
The fatality was the 47th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
