Two killed in McDonald County collision

Two Pineville residents were killed in a two-vehicle accident 9:50 p.m. Monday on U. S. 71 in Jane.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Silverado driven by Timothy E. Calvin, 31, Sarcoxie, failed to stop for a steady red signal and struck a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Austin J. Buttry, 21, Pineville, on the passenger side as it was taking a left turn on a green arrow light.

A passenger in the Buttry vehicle, Billy W. Hampshire, 20, Pineville, was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m. by Dr. Jim Wiley. Buttry was airlifted to Freeman West Hospital, where was pronounced dead 4:40 p.m. Wednesday by Dr. Brian Curtis.

Another passenger in the Buttry vehicle, Dillon M. Russell, 20, Noel, was taken to Mercy Hospital, Rogers, Arkansas, and then airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas, with moderate injuries.

The fatalities were the 43rd and 44th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
