SWAT team involved in Joplin man's arrest on weapons charge

Friday, July 8, 2016 at approximately 7:20 AM, the Joplin Police Department served a search warrant at 219 S. Highland.

Shelton R. Washington, 35, 219 S. Highland, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

During interactions with officers on a previous occasion, Washington was observed to be in possession of a firearm. It was later determined that he is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

Because Washington has exhibited aberrant behavior during interactions with officers, and in an abundance of caution, The Joplin SWAT-Team was utilized to serve the warrant. Washington was arrested without incident.
