Joplin Museum to close for general maintenance work

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin History & Mineral Museum will be closed from Saturday, December 31, 2016 to Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in order for general maintenance and housekeeping chores to be completed. Several areas will also be updated and repainted during this time, and some collections relocated to different spaces in the Museum.

“This is our usual time for our staff to do some general upkeep and cleaning of the Museum,” said Brad Belk, Director of the Museum. “By closing for a short period, it allows us to do a little more extensive work that would otherwise block aisles or halls if we remained open. It gives us a chance to regroup and freshen some of the d├ęcor, so our visitors can enjoy a new perspective to the Museum upon reopening on January 10.”

Starting January 10, hours of the museum are: Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is located in Schifferdecker Park, 7th and Schifferdecker, and their website can be viewed at . For additional information please call the museum at 417-623-1180.
