Joplin residents injured in accident on ice-covered bridge in Carter County

Two Joplin residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident 4 p.m. today on U. S. 60 eastbound, one mile east of Elsinore in Carter County.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Ford F-150 driven by Riley C. Walton, 73, Joplin, lost control on an ice-covered bridge, traveled off the right side of the roadway and went off an embankment.

Walton was treated for serious injuries and a passenger, Marilyn J. Walton, 69, Joplin, for minor injuries at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Poplar Bluff.
