(From Gov. Jay Nixon)
Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Dade County Prosecuting Attorney Gary A. Troxell, of Everton, as Associate Circuit Judge for Dade County. The appointment fills the vacancy created when the Honorable David R. Munton was sworn in as Circuit Judge for the 28th Judicial Circuit.
Troxell has served as the Prosecuting Attorney for Dade County since January 2009. In that position, he has been responsible for prosecuting all misdemeanor and felony cases as well as making charging decisions on cases. From 2006 to 2016, Troxell also served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Lawrence County; his legal experience also includes representing the State of Missouri as an Assistant Attorney General in trial and appellate courts.
Troxell, who served in the U.S. Army and currently serves in the Missouri National Guard, also raises cattle on a small farm in Dade County. He obtained his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Missouri Southern State University.
“As a prosecutor, as an assistant attorney general and as a military veteran, Gary Troxell has demonstrated his commitment and his ability to serving the people of Missouri,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am pleased to appoint him to the bench to serve as Associate Circuit Judge in Dade County.”
