On January 3, 2016 at 1:04 p.m. officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 1501 South Range Line for a reported armed robbery that had just occurred. The victim stated that as she had just finished placing groceries into her vehicle when she was approached by another female. The suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded the victim turn over her purse. The suspect then entered a vehicle driven by a male and fled the scene with the victims purse and property.
After putting the suspects’ description and vehicle information out to area agencies, the suspects were located and stopped by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at a toll booth in Craig County Oklahoma.
The female suspect, Alyssa M. Guevara, 28, of Bernice Oklahoma is being charged with First Degree Robbery in the Jasper County.
The male suspect and driver of the vehicle was Joel McGuire, 28, of Guthrie Oklahoma is also being charged with First Degree Robbery in Jasper County.
Both subjects are currently confined in the Craig County Jail. Formal charges in Jasper County are pending review of the County Prosecutor’s office.
