Crowder College weekly update

The College will be closed in observation of President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 20 for DAYTIME CLASSES & OFFICES ONLY. Twilight and Evening (any class with a meeting time that begins after 3pm, i.e., 3:15 or 3:30) classes WILL MEET.
Academics
·         Programs currently accepting application for Fall 2017 include:

Athletics
·         The Roughrider Basketball team will play at State Fair, Wed., Feb.15, 5:30pm and play at home on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2pm vs. Jefferson. For a complete schedule go to: http://crowderathletics.com/sports/wbkb/2016-17/schedule
·         The Roughrider Softball team went 2-2 in Texas to open the season.  They travel to Independence Thursday, Feb. 16, 2pm before their home opener scheduled for Feb. 23 at 2pm. For a complete schedule go to: http://crowderathletics.com/sports/sball/2016-17/schedule
·         The Roughrider Baseball team is now 4-0 on the season. They will host border rival NEO Tues., Feb. 14, 2pm, then travel to Independence on Feb. 16 at 1pm before returning to host DMACC, Feb. 18-19 starting at 1pm and noon, respectively. For a complete schedule go to: http://crowderathletics.com/sports/bsb/2016-17/schedule
·         The Roughrider Soccer team will host the 35th Annual Thunderdome tournament, March 10-11. This is an indoor soccer tournament and fundraiser for the team. Registration is open now: BradSmith@Crowder.edu or 417.455.5443.

Campus Events
·         The Nursing Students will provide a Blood Pressure and Pulse Screening in the Student Center, Tuesday, Feb. 14, noon-1pm. Students and Staff members will receive a copy of their results and Valentine’s Day candy.
·         PTK Spring Induction Sunday, Feb. 26, 2pm, Wright Conference Center.
·         Resume’ and Cover Letter Workshops on Neosho campus:
o   March 1, 3-4pm in McDonald Hall Room 220
·         Career Exploration Workshops on Neosho campus:
o   Feb. 22, 2-3pm in McDonald Hall Room 220

Community Events
·         International Student Market on Monday, Feb. 13 from 11AM – 1:30PM in the Student Center on the Neosho campus. Students have food and cultural items from their native countries for sale. For more information contact: SarahHorine@Crowder.edu
·         Auditions for Ring of Fire by Richard Maltby, Jr., will be held Feb. 21 & 22, 4:30-6pm. Ring of Fire packs a score with a rich fabric that tells the story of Johnny Cash. Candidates must sign up for audition slots. Prep: 1 minute monologue & 16 bars from a song of your choice, no accompanist provided. For more information email: Theatre@Crowder.edu
·         SoftStitchers Quilt Show, March 2-5 in Wright Conference Center. Quilt entries accepted Feb. 28 & March 1. Watch for more information!
·         Crowder College Theatre presents Lessons in Folklore, with two shows March 11, 10am or 2pm. Tickets available at the door. For more information email: Theatre@Crowder.edu
·         The Friends of the Lee Library are currently taking donations of books for the Used Book Sale that will take place April 11-13, Wright Conference Center (Room C). If you have books you would like to donate please contact the Library at: 417.455.5610.
·         Crowder Community Choir is open to community member who love to sing. They are in need of bass singers, but welcome anyone. Foundation

·         Crowder College Foundation Scholarships for 2017-18 applications available. Priority deadline is April 1.
