Guest pianist Dr. Jason Terry will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Webster Hall’s Corley Auditorium at Missouri Southern State University.
A 2009 graduate of Missouri Southern, Terry received his master’s of music from Baylor University in 2012 and his doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 2016. He is currently on staff at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University where he teaches in the piano pedagogy division and for the Young Pianists Program.
As a solo and collaborative artist, he has given performances throughout the United States, France, South Korea, and Central & Southeast Asia. He is the former director of Midlands Music Academy, a full-band/orchestra academy in South Carolina. Research presentations have taken him to conferences in the U.S., Southeast Asia, and recently he has been invited to present at multiple European conferences throughout 2017.
His piano concert at Missouri Southern will include works by Beethoven, Scarlatti and Balakirev, as well as three George Gershwin melodies.
The concert – made possible by a grant from the Vivian Leon Fund for the Musical Arts – is free and open to the public.
Other activities set for next week include a faculty saxophone recital, basketball vs. Central Missouri and screenings of “Office Christmas Party.”
Monday, Feb. 20
“Auschwitz KZ I-II” opening: Spiva Art Gallery. The photography exhibition by Örjan Henriksson will run through March 17. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Tuesday, Feb. 21
Snack Pack Bingo: 12:20 p.m., Lion’s Den. Students can play for a chance to win snack packs from the Campus Activities Board.
Microsoft Excel Level 1: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Plaster Hall. Participants will learn the practical uses of Excel. The two-part session will continue on Feb. 23. Cost is $124 per person. For more information, contact the Small Business & Technology Development Center at 417-625-3128.

“Office Christmas Party”: 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., Phelps Theatre in Billingsly Student Center. The screening by the Campus Activities Board is free and open to the campus community.
Women’s Basketball vs. Central Missouri: 5:30 p.m., Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Men’s Basketball vs. Central Missouri: 7:30 p.m., Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Faculty Saxophone Recital: 7:30 p.m., Corley Auditorium. Dr. Keith Talley, Music Department chair, will perform.
