January 2017 Officer of the Month
On January 10, 2017 at 0136 hours Officer Veronica Bailey observed two suspicious males in the parking lot of 3031 S. Range Line Rd., (Motel 6). When the two males observed Officer Bailey they ran inside a nearby room and hid.
Officer Bailey was able to identify one of the males, and determined that he had multiple warrants out of the City of Joplin and Jasper County. Officer Bailey and Officer Meador conducted a knock and talk of the room. The male with warrants answered the door and was taken into custody for his warrants. A safety sweep of the room was conducted and drug paraphernalia was located. Officer Bailey conducted a roadside interview of one of the occupants and was able to discover that there was marijuana hidden inside the room. Officer Bailey located the marijuana and seized it.
Due to Officer Bailey’s dedication to her job, professionalism, and investigation skills she was able to seize 89.3 gm of marijuana, multiple items of paraphernalia, and clear multiple warrants. Officer Bailey turned a routine suspicious person call into a felony possession of controlled substance arrest.
