Recovery work in Joplin neighborhoods may cause temporary road closures

(From the City of Joplin)

Sprouls Construction will begin work on two areas starting June 29, 2017 as they progress on Surface Project 4005. Areas include:

15th Street from Pearl to Wall Avenue; and

19th Street from Pearl to Jackson Avenue

These closures will be in effect through Monday, July 31, 2017.

The Surface Project 4005 includes the replacement of damaged sidewalks, curb & gutters, storm water inlets & pipes, ADA ramps at corners, and street pavement. The work will be completed from Jackson Avenue to Main Street and from 15th to 19th Street.

In July 2015, the Joplin City Council approved the Capital Plan for the expenditure of Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds focusing on the rebuilding and recovery work following the May 2011 tornado. This is the first of six similar projects in the recovery area that focuses on repairing damaged public infrastructure in residential areas.

More information about this project, as well as all of the recovery projects, can be found at www.joplincdbgdrpublic.com
