A Nevada man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 8 a.m. Tuesday on I-49, one mile north of Carthage.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Vernon L. Howery, 73, Nevada, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees.
The fatality was the fifth and the 93rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
