Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office investigators are searching for a Baxter Springs couple, as part of an ongoing burglary investigation.

Deputies were summoned to a rural Cherokee County home on Sunday, March 4th, when the residents returned home to discover they had been burglarized. Nearly $20,000.00 worth of property, including guns, money and jewelry had been stolen.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed a suspect and subsequently executed a search warrant on his Baxter Springs home on March 5th. The suspect was not home at the time of the warrant execution, yet investigators recovered a significant amount of the stolen property. In addition, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also located in the home.

On Tuesday, March 6th, nearly all the rest of the stolen property was recovered at another location by Sheriff’s Deputies.

Felony arrest warrants have been issued for 26 year-old Corey Jae Clark and 21 year-old Maranda Shoemaker. They may be traveling in a white 2010 Chevy HHR.

“I’m grateful our investigators were able to recover the stolen property, so it can be returned to the rightful owners,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.

“We are asking that anyone with information as to Clark and Shoemaker’s whereabouts contact us at 620-848-3000, 620-429-3992, or submit a tip by texting ‘tip cherokee’ to 888777, so we can hold the suspected perpetrators accountable,” concluded Sheriff Groves.
