(From Pittsburg USD 250)
On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Pittsburg High School administrators were made aware of a threat.
Administrators are working with the Pittsburg Police and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Departments who are conducting an investigation.
“We want to reassure our community that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority,” Pittsburg Community Schools Superintendent Destry Brown said. “Any threat against our students or staff is taken seriously and is not tolerated. We are grateful to our student body who also take all threats seriously and report them.”
An increased police presence will be visible at PHS. All students and staff will be required to enter through the main entrance. All students will be required to have their bags checked by law enforcement. (Note: This post was published Tuesday.)
In accordance with the school handbook, students who make threats will be subject to discipline up to and including suspension or expulsion.
The investigation is ongoing and any information about this threat should be reported to Pittsburg Police Department at (620) 231-1700 or the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department at (620) 724-8274 or to school administration.
