Golden City man tells Jasper PD during traffic stop there might be drugs in his car- He was right

(From the Jasper Police Department)

Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) Arrest

On Friday, March 9th, 2018 at 11:48 am, a Jasper PD Officer stopped a red pickup truck near the intersection of 4th and Mercer in reference to a traffic violation.

The officer made contact with Claude Volkman of Golden City, Missouri. After speaking with Volkman, the officer noticed signs of Volkman being under the influence of narcotics.

After being questioned, Volkman first stated to the officer that there “might” be drugs in the vehicle but somebody put them there. The officer took that as a clue and became more suspicious and continued to question Volkman.

Volkman then admitted he did in fact have methamphetamine in the truck and stated it was in a black zip up bag on the front passenger seat. A search of the truck yielded two baggies with a white crystal substance suspected of methamphetamine.

Volkman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and also an active warrant out of Dade County for passing bad checks.
Once again, Jasper PD and it’s non-illegal drug using citizens would like to ask you nicely to please not do meth nor bring meth into the city limits for any reason. Thank you.

Note: Volkman is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
