Joplin Bicycle/Pedestrian Transportation Plan to be reviewed at meeting

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) will be reviewing the draft Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan at its meeting on March 13. The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the conference room on the fifth floor of City Hall, 602 South Main Street.

Two public meetings were held to discuss the Plan Update on August 24, 2017 and November 16, 2017. On January 11, 2018 an outline of the draft was presented to the JATSO Policy Board. The Board will be discussing comments and questions before finalization of the plan.

The agenda also includes discuss “Path Forward”, a document developed by the Four States Clean Air Alliance (FSCAA) to raise awareness of ground-level ozone concerns in the Four States region. Additionally, it guides the FSCAA through the Environmental Protection Agency’s Ozone Advance Program. The Advance Program supports states, tribes and local governments that want to take proactive steps to keep their air clean by promoting local actions to reduce ozone and/or fine particle pollution.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting. If there are any questions pertaining to the items that will be discussed at the meeting please contact Taylor Cunningham at 417- 624-0820, extension 201 or by email at TCunning@joplinmo.org.
