Joplin residents injured in accident on Gateway Drive

Two Joplin residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident 3:45 p.m. today on Gateway Drive four miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1999 Ford Expedition driven by James O. Hurst, 27, Joplin, swerved to miss a vehicle in front of it, ran off the right side of the road and lost control. It returned to the roadway, crossed the center and struck a 2000 Ford ZX2 driven by Steven L. Pendergraft, 28, Joplin.

Pendergraft and a passenger in his vehicle, Dayna N. Beckner, 29, Joplin, were treated for moderate injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
