In other words... Joplin sucks
ReplyDeleteTalk about an "elephant in the room"; nowhere in the report is the mention of the facilities, sleeping rooms and draw of Downstream Casino Resort or any of the near-by casinos. Because they don't pay the city any room taxes, they don't exist. (Except when the Chamber puts their biggest show of the year in their facilities)
ReplyDeleteTrying to increase the room-tax to build a new facility is ridiculous. The private sector sees that is illogical and not profitable, so why build it?
The investor in Webb City building a new "convention center" and a 40 - room hotel will do nothing for the draw of the city. This center will be owned by the bank in two years.
