We are sad and disappointed to have to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances:

Oswego Community Hospital, Oswego Community Clinic, and Chetopa Community Clinic have been CLOSED AND SERVICES ARE NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE.

It has been an honor and privilege to provide services to and care for our friends and neighbors in our surrounding communities.

Labette Health is working with the Oswego Mayor and private citizens to insure healthcare services are available to meet the needs of Oswego, Chetopa and the surrounding area.

The announcement came after Oswego Community Hospital closed its doors Wednesday evening. Upon the closure, Labette Health was requested to provide an ambulance at the Oswego Emergency Room for patients arriving via private vehicle who were seeking medical care.

“First and foremost, our hearts go out to the employees and their families,” said Brian Williams, President & CEO. “Their hospital was very important to them and to their community.”

Labette Health has ordered a temporary clinic facility to be delivered within the next couple of weeks. “We are working quickly to hire as many staff from the hospital and clinics and to restore healthcare services to their community and to our neighbors,” said Williams.

While providing a temporary clinic facility, Labette Health will begin the planning stages of a permanent clinic, including x-ray, lab and therapy. The future Oswego location will be announced soon.

“Rural hospitals are an integral part of the country’s healthcare landscape,” said Perry Sorrell, Board of Trustees Chairperson. “Southeast Kansas is a tight-knit community that has a right to quality healthcare and that’s what we’re committed to doing.”
