:Buy One, Give One" food event planned at Missouri Southern

(From Southern News Service)

Thanks to the generosity of a Missouri Southern State University alum, students on campus – along with MSSU faculty and staff and members of the community - will get the chance this week to help those dealing with food insecurity.

Jon Tupper (’92), who along with his son, Jaren, owns and operates Culver Creek Company and Culver Creek Catering, will have the company’s food truck parked on the parking lot of Fred G. Hughes Stadium at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8.

He’ll offer a handful of menu items at a discounted rate – and will also offer a “Buy One Give One” deal, where the purchase of any sandwich will result in the donation of another sandwich to a student.

The endeavor is part of the ongoing relationship between Tupper and the Lion Co-op – the food pantry on campus that’s been up and running since last fall; a facility that’s also helped a number of students this summer.

While the majority of students don’t return to campus until next week, many have been here most of the summer. The student cafeteria has been closed since July 25 and won’t reopen until Sunday, Aug. 15, the day before the start of the 2019 Fall Semester.
