Joplin Police stop of stolen car with no headlights leads to arrests on DWI, meth trafficking, weapons charges

On August 5th, 2019 at approximately 11:28 P.M. Officers with the Joplin Police Department stopped a passenger vehicle at 6th St. & Moffet Ave for driving with no headlights.

During the stop the officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The driver identified as Benjamin Dover 37 of Tulsa, OK was arrested for a felony arrest warrant. 

During a search of the vehicle a stolen handgun reported stolen out of Joplin, MO was located, approximately 837 grams of marijuana, 9 grams of methamphetamine, counterfeit U.S. currency, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were also located in the vehicle.








Dover was arrested and charges submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office for driving while intoxicated (drugs), driving while revoked license, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of firearm for certain persons, fugitive from out of state, forgery, stealing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A passenger was also arrested identified as Breanna Holmes 24 of Bartlesville, OK. Holmes was arrested for possession of firearms for certain persons, stealing, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutors Office.
