After arrest, Carthage man admits trying to pay bill with marijuana joint wasn't a smart thing to do

(From the City of Jasper)

On Tuesday, November 12th, 2019 at 1145 hours, a Jasper officer made contact with a person near a construction truck, parked on the Pete's Convenience Store lot.

Contact was made in reference to information given that he had attempted to pay for a tire repair yesterday with a marijuana joint.

Upon contact, the subject was identified as Kendrick Long, Carthage. The officer questioned Long in reference to him offering to pay an employee of a local tire repair shop with a marijuana joint.

Long admitted he did in fact attempt to pay with a joint. He said he had the cash to pay for the repair but wanted to save his cash so he offered a marijuana cigarette instead.

The employee of the tire repair shop refused to accept the marijuana cigarette as payment. Long admitted it wasn't a smart thing to do.

The officer asked Long if he had any marijuana on his person or in his pockets. Long admitted he had two marijuana "roaches" in his pant pocket.

Long was cited for possession of marijuana.
