Initial reports: Joplin man stabbed, later dies at Mercy, after unlawfully entering neighbor's home

On January 31st, 2020 JPD was dispatched to 829 S. New Hampshire Ave in reference to a flourishing of a weapon call. 

Upon arrival, officers located a downed male in the area who had a stab wound. First aid was provided by officers until medical units arrived and transported the male to Mercy Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

Joplin Police investigators responded to the scene to investigate. 

Initial reports state that the deceased male, later identified as Jonas Bartholomew, attempted to unlawfully enter his neighbors’ home where he was stabbed and then fled. A death investigation is taking place currently.
