Six-year-old boy drowns in Elk River

A six-year-old Kansas City boy drowned 1:59 p.m. Friday in Elk River, a mile and a half north of Noel.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the boy waded out into the water and was unable to return to shore. 

The boy was pronounced dead by Dr. Pace at Freeman Neosho at 3.45 p.m.

The drowning was the 14th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
