Missouri Southern State University’s Lion Co-op will be the focus of the Joplin Elks Lodge monthly charity breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Elks Lodge, 1802 W. 26th St.The Lion Co-op provides food and personal items to Missouri Southern students and employees experiencing food insecurity.
“We’re thankful for the generosity of the Elks Lodge and its members,” said Dr. Andrea Cullers, Lion Co-op director. “Community support is integral to the success of the Lion Co-op and its work in reducing food insecurity and increasing educational and opportunities to MSSU students.”
The Elks Lodge hosts a charity breakfast on the first Saturday of each month. A breakfast of hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and coffee is $8 with the proceeds donated to charity.
To donate to the Lion Co-Op, bring nonperishable items to the Elks Lodge breakfast this Saturday, or email lioncoop@mssu.edu. High-demand items include:
Microwaveable entrees, such as macaroni and cheese, ramen noodles and soups
Snack foods, such as granola bars, peanut butter and crackers
Other food items, such as instant mashed potatoes or jam
Personal hygiene items, such as toilet paper, deodorant and body soap
