Republic Services, the Joplin residential trash provider, will not be running their routes today, Wednesday, February 2, for trash and curbside recycling pickup due to weather conditions.With the current forecast for more precipitation, there is the possibility of remainder of the week being cancelled also, however please watch for official announcement.
When Republic is able to run their routes, officials stated that the customers missed will have all of their trash picked up on their regular day next week. Residents should put extra trash in bags and place next to their polycarts for pick-up on their regular service day.
Republic and City officials stated that safety is a major concern and ask that residents be patient during these challenging weather conditions.
“Heavy trash trucks have difficulty on icy and snow-covered roads and alleys, and it creates a safety hazard for our citizens, their property and the Republic staff,” said Lynden Lawson, Public Works Assistant Director for Operations.
