(From the Jasper Police Department)On Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:52 hrs., a Jasper PD officer initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of thorn Road and I 49, Jasper, Missouri on a black 2001 dodge truck.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, during the initiation of the stop, the driver began to move around in the vehicle frantically in a way that made it appear he could possibly be hiding contraband and/or other items.
I made contact with the driver, Cody Daniels and the front passenger, who would not identify herself.
Upon further investigation and speaking with the front passenger, she finally told the officer her name, Cassie Taylor. She advised she believed she had a traffic warrant for her arrest.
A check of Taylor’s information through dispatch showed her to have an active felony warrant out of Benton County, Arkansas for felony theft with no bond set. Taylor, 29, Diamond, also had an active warrant out of Newton County for FTA-traffic offense. The warrants were confirmed.
A search of Taylor’s purse was conducted. The following was located:
*Empty plastic syringe bag containing about 2 grams of a white crystal substance #Field tested positive for methamphetamine.
*(2) Used syringes with a liquid residue inside.
*Glass smoking pipe with a white powder residue.
After being read her Miranda warning and questioned her in reference to the items found in her purse. She admitted the items were hers and that Daniels didn’t know she had the items on her. She stated she has used meth for about 3 years.
Daniels was issued a citation for obstruction and released.
Taylor was transported to the Jasper County Jail and held on a 24 hour hold for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony fugitive from justice.
Both Taylor and Daniels are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
