Four-year-old Joplin boy airlifted to Mercy Springfield following collision on 1-49

Three Joplin residents were injured in a two-vehicle collision 12:08 p.m. today on I-49, six miles south of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Hyundai Sonata driven by Gwendolyn Sampson, 43, Joplin, struck the rear of a 2003 Lexus Es driven by Sandra Feezell, 45, Joplin.

A 4-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Feezell vehicle was flown to Mercy Springfield with serious injuries.

Sampson and Feezell were treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, and Mercy Joplin, respectively.
