An Anderson man was cited for felony driving while intoxicated, and vehicular homicide following a two-vehicle accident in which a second Anderson man was killed 8:25 a.m. today on MO 59/North Route NN inside the Anderson city limits.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Nissan Armada driven by Vincent P. Castro, 25, Anderson, crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Toyota Tacoma driven by David F. Cunningham, 65, Anderson, head on.
Cunningham was airlifted to Freeman West Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Kevin Christian at 9:55 a.m.
Castro was flown to Mercy Joplin with serious injuries.
According to the Highway Patrol arrest page, Castro was also cited for careless and imprudent driving and for not having insurance.
The fatality was the 79th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
