Joplin, Springfield men arrested for felony meth, heroin possession after injury accident on I-44

Two men were arrested on multiple felony drug possession charges following a two-vehicle collision 11:07 p.m. Monday on I-44 one mile west of Mount Vernon.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2007 Pontiac G5 driven by Kyle W. Stewart, 34, Springfield, struck the rear of a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Keegan L. Whipple, 43, Nevada.

Stewart was cited for felony possession of methamphetamine and heroin, careless and imprudent driving, failure to register motor vehicle, failure to title motor vehicle, a window tint violation and for not having insurance.







A passenger in Stewart's vehicle, Desmond W. Hardy, 39, Joplin, was cited for felony possession of methamphetamine, heroin and oxycodone, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Stewart and Hardy were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Aurora.

Whipple was treated for moderate injuries at Mercy Joplin.
