Joplin Police Department promotes Brett Davis to sergeant

The Joplin Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Corporal Brett Davis to the rank of Sergeant. His promotion was effective Friday, March 31st. 

Sergeant Davis graduated from the MSSU Law Enforcement Academy in 2009 and worked for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office from September 2008 to November 2011 as a Detention Officer and then a Patrol Deputy before being hired by the Joplin Police Department in November 2011. 








During his career at JPD, Sergeant Davis has worked as a Patrol Officer, DWI Enforcement Officer, a K9 Officer, and as a patrol supervisor in the Uniform Operations Bureau. 

Sergeant Davis has also served as a Field Training Officer, Range Officer, SFST Instructor, Type II Instrument Instructor, DWI Checkpoint Supervisor, Less Lethal Instructor, Drug Recognition Expert, Honor Guard member, and has held the following positions on the JPD SWAT Team: Operator, Sniper, Explosives Handler/Breacher, Assistant Team Leader, and is currently a Team Leader.
 
Sergeant Davis will continue to work as a patrol supervisor in the Uniform Operations Bureau.
 
We wish Sergeant Davis the very best as he starts this new chapter in his law enforcement career. Congratulations.
