Jasper County Commission April 18 minutes

The General Session for the Jasper County Commission was called to order at 9:00 a.m. on April 18, 2023, in room 101 of the Jasper County Courthouse by Presiding Commissioner John Bartosh. 

The meeting was opened with a prayer by Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis followed by the pledge of allegiance. 

Roll Call: Presiding Commissioner John Bartosh, Commissioner Darieus K. Adams, and Commissioner Tom Flanigan were present. 

Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Adams made a motion to approve the minutes from the April 11, 2023, General Session. Commissioner Flanigan seconded the motion. By unanimous vote, the minutes were approved.

Reports and Communication: None 

Elected Officials/Citizen Request: Jasper County Records Center Director Annie Golden, presented some information about Cave Springs School and other properties. She noted that Cave Springs School has some roof damage and may need some repair. There is no water damage inside the building.

Alexander Cemetery will have volunteer clean up days on April 21st and 28th. 

Rader Farm may need some attention to the structure on the property. 

The Cemetery Board created their own 501(c)(3) in an attempt to raise donations to take care of the cemeteries.

New Business: Commissioner Adams made a motion to appoint Jhan Hurn and Jane Hoover to the LEST Grant Board. Commissioner Flanigan seconded the motion. By unanimous vote, the motion passes.
