(From the Joplin Police Department)On Friday, June 14th, 2024, at 04:07 a.m. the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a 911 report of a stabbing outside of Watered Gardens at 531 S. Kentucky Avenue in Joplin.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 42-year-old male with a stab wound to the chest. Officers assisted in providing medical aid until EMS arrived on scene. He was transported to Mercy Hospital for further treatment. His injuries are considered to be non-life threatening at this time.
Through further investigation on scene, it was determined the victim of the stabbing was highly intoxicated and a disturbance had taken place between him and another adult male. The other male involved in this incident was not on scene when officers arrived and has not yet been located.
He is described as a white male, dark colored hair, red shirt, blue jeans, and had tattoos on his arms. He is also described as being homeless.

Additionally, this appears to be an isolated incident between these two individuals. The Joplin Police Department does not believe there is an active threat or danger to the public at this time.
