Two Liberal residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident 10:48 a.m. Monday on I-44 five miles south of Carthage.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a vehicle that was not involved in the crash changed lanes causing a 2000 Ford Focus driven by Timothy A. Jones, 33, Liberal, to swerve and lose control. The Jones vehicle collided with a 2008 Dodge Charger, a Jasper County Sheriff's Department vehicle driven by a deputy, Brady Stuart, 53, Carthage.
Jones suffered moderate injuries. A passenger in his car, Crystal B. Bethel, 39, Liberal, had minor injuries. Both were taken to Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
