(From the Joplin Fire Department)
The Joplin Fire Department would like to recognize two of our crews on their work this past week.
Truck 5B (Captain Jeremy Humphrey, Driver/Engineer Adam Stewart, and Firefighter Zach Foltz responded to a medical emergency with a patient not conscious and not breathing. Upon arrival, our crew initiated CPR and other life saving techniques then assisted the METS ambulance crew with continuing care and treatment. The patient responded to the treatment and the patient had regained a pulse and respirations on arrival at the hospital.
Engine 3A (Captain Trae Goetz, Driver/Engineer Kolby Tucker, Firefighter Scott Redshaw, and Firefighter Amanda Davis) responded to a medical emergency with a patient not conscious and not breathing. Upon arrival, our crew initiated CPR and other life saving techniques, then assisted the METS ambulance crew with continuing care and treatment. The patient responded to the treatment and had regained a pulse and respirations on arrival at the hospital.
In both situations the team response of pre-arrival care from our dispatchers, first response from our crews initiating care, and advanced life saving techniques provided by METS ambulance led to a positive outcome. Thank you for your work to those that were involved.
