A Webb City man was killed in a one-vehicle accident 11:40 a.m. today on MO 43, two miles north of Joplin.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup driven by Herman M. Simpson, 56, Webb City, went off the left side of the roadway and struck a sign post. Simpson was taken to Mercy Hospital, Joplin, where he was pronounced dead at 1:16 p.m. by Dr. David Hargroder.
The fatality was the 22nd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
